Re: New kernels
Great! Thank you for testing the alpha4 again. I hope you can fix the issue.
So I booted up from the 6.12 stable kernel which has been solid. But the menu bar kept opening and closing. In dmesg log caja just kept crashing. Worse than usual and was making the system unusable. So I just jumped ...

Re: New kernels
Today, I tested the alpha4 of kernel 6.14 with Void PPC. There aren't any issues with the graphics card.
I tested the alpha 4 again and this time it booted to desktop. Whatever that was about. However, I cannot get any browsers to work like Arctic Fox or SeaLion. So there is some fault there ...

Re: New kernels
Many thanks for testing.
I have an issue with alpha 4. It boots to a shell only so seems to have a graphic driver issue at my end. The alpha 5 is out now so I'll try that next.
Well, will try it soon. I managed to wreck my boot menu last night. Will need to fix that ASAP.
Sometimes my X1000 ...

Re: New kernels
So tested the final 6.13. Strangely it didn't act fluent on my system and desktop took longer to setup. Where as the 6.13 RC7 ran well.
Also tested up to the alpha 3 of 6.14. So far, so good, Running stable.
There's also a glitch with the 5.10.228 LTS kernel on shutdown. It only happens on ...

Re: New kernels
No, it doesn’t take long because I cross compile the kernels on Servers with good Xeon CPUs.
There was a quirk with XZ, at least the older ones, in that it didn't fully support multicore. It wasn't multithreaded. I don't know if they did something about that or worked around by splitting data ...

Re: New kernels
The symptoms you describe were very much like mine when my battery was fading. How long since you replaced the battery? Might want to check the battery voltages if it hasn't been too long.

Re: New kernels
Hypex,
Oh dear. It doesn’t sound good. I hope you can fix it.
Cheers,
Christian
Seems it was a temporary glitch. The system appears fine now. Before I was getting fails on kernel load. Just tested the RC6 and RC7 now. Booted up fine. Looking good. All "green lights" as kernel loads. :-)
Also ...

Re: New kernels
Not sure what's going on with my system. Last night I was testing out blkid with Precise. When suddenly sudo started complaining about some var file not existing. I logged out but then ended up rebooting from terminal using keyboard reset. Reboot back in and fsck complains there are errors. Suggests ...

Re: New kernels
Hi All,
I released the RC5 of kernel 6.13 for the X1000 and X5000 today.
Testing and working fine.
Also FYI kernel 5.10.228 is the newest I can run with Ubuntu Precise. I use 5.12.0 with Xenial.
Also it looks like Arctic Fox 44.0 has a bug as it keeps asking me if I want it to be default ...
