Really? That is strange. Usually my X1000 shows up with some strange problem at times. Well, if it helps I can grab a boot log. I didn't see any signs of instability when I tested alpha 6 on my X1000.

I have released the alpha6 of kernel 6.18 .

I happened to check and found it there before it was announced. :-)

Unfortunately, there are PCI issues so the kernel has boot problems.

Is this an X5000 thing? I noticed an e5500 patch. The X1000 alpha 6 I'm testing right now (on MATE and ...

There must have been many good changes.

On that note, alpha 5 continues the trend, also booting up well on Mate and Mint.

These alphas are coming in so fast there won't be any space for the RCs.

So have tested alphas 3 and 4 between MATE and Mint. So far they have been very stable with no major problems. All alphas so far running well and look forward to testing 5 next.

I'm finding Arctic fox 46.2 crashing on Mint 32 as well. However it is a silent crash and doesn't stop it from still working. I only actively load the forums on here. But I have 5 saved tabs open so they could possibly crash as well even if unloaded.

So tested kernels alpha 1 and 2 on Mate and Mint. Including KVM patch. So far so good. Now installing alpha 3 and onto that next.

I am happy to release the final kernel 6.17.0 for X1000 and e5500 machines (X5000/20, X5000/40, Mirari, and QEMU VMs).


Testing and working well so far on MATE. I did notice these errors in the journal. Seem harmless enough.

Here is the stable long-term kernel 6.12.48 with support for a low-latency desktop. (CONFIG_PREEMPT=y)

Testing now on Debian and looks good so far. Need to do some desktop testing. So I can see where it would make a difference.
