I have vmlinux-3.12 which comes with a config: kernel_3.12.0.config, and a patch: nemo_3.12.0.patch
Do I have to apply that patch in some way (how) first or do I copy them all onto the cf card and hope that the ubuntu remix will do any required manipulation during hard drive installation ...

Re: New EHCI driver fails on my system
I jumped on the USB2 train by purchasing a second hand NEC 4+1 PCI USB card and inserted it either in slot 1-2-3, disabling/enabling front/rear onboard USB of my fixed A1XEG4 and it does not work properly !
I suppose I have the same card, at least it is NEC 4+1

Also, is there any special set-up required, or is it simply a matter of installing a PCI card and away it goes with the EHCI driver?
Away it goes!
I've amended two of my messages above to provide better info and a couple of numbers. (There were no icons associated with the files copied ...

Re: USBCtrl fails
After installing update 3 on the SAM 460ex harddrive I thought to boot update 2 from
the original USB card plugged in , when I want, to the port on the mobo. I also wanted
to check out this failure to initiate USB that I got whenever I had a stick planted in a
USB port. OK the machine booted fine ...

I don't use any of the P96 Fake Native Modes but they came to the fore in a way that was rather annoying
because the system had got to smart!
At our club nights we use a projector from the vga port on my A1, the image to my monitor
being returned from an output port on the projector. If the A1 is ...

On my A1 I did all those things listed with Media Toolbox and Partition Wizard except I
turned the usb HP Photosmart C5280 on after the notification it was turned off.
No further notices appeared.
I did get so many messages and requesters I could hardly keep up while attempting to write large ...

Some Numbers
Writing 22 videos totalling 6409.5 MB (6.41 GB) from sfs PATA drive (sil680 controller) to 8GB FAT flash drive:
48m 13s (2893 secs) = 2.2 MB/s
Copying same from card to drive:
14m 10 s (850 secs) = 7.54 MB/s
One wonders why the sticks are called flash drives.
The videos, should ...

Re: Some working USB2 cards
Correction. I have tried a different and even longer USB cable to the unpowered 3 port hub
and it is writing without errors. The other long cable has become faulty it would appear.
I have still to try the replacement on the powered hubs.

Re: Some working USB2 cards
I have tried 2 cards. A 6 port card with an nvidia chip, and a 5 port NEC card
both worked well once I discarded a faulty usb cable to a hub I was using.
The NVidia chipped card is the MP5273 (6)

How is you Card reader attached ?
I used misleading terminology. I was refering to a 4GB memory stick if that is what they are still called.
However, I have a card reader hanging about so popped it into a front port - no problems with that
but the card in use is only 1GB. The 4 GB sticks are ...
