There is one detail about KVM/Qemu which puzzles me... Can you run a 64-bit Linux distro on X5000 using them? Do they have some sort of Altivec emulation? I suppose that would be otherwise impossible.

I got now OpenGLworking again with VLC! The problem seemed to be that some of the Mesa components were not locked and had been updated to the 25.xxx version. I did run though, the 'Mesa script' some times earlier... Shouldn't it have locked all the Mesa components? Or is it that Synaptic which I use ...

I have the same error messages but without Segmentation fault and the video works.

Strange... Did you earlier lock 'mesa' to an older version as adviced by mintppc, due to some problem in a newer version?

In my system these files are 'pinned' to v. 24.1.6-1 :
libegl-mesa0
libgbm1
libgl1-mesa ...

The package 'Hardinfo2' is not correctly packaged. When run, Hardinfo2 complains about a missing component named 'dmidecode'.

Please update VLC to version 3.0.22-rc2 or upgrade your entire MintPPC32 system.

I updated first only VLC, then all the remaining packages, but no change! I still get the same issues with OpenGL:

$ vlc

I upgraded my MintPPC32 today. Now I have VLC 3.0.22-rc2 installed.

I can play the mp4 (720p), avi (1080p) and h264 (1080p) videos of Big Buck Bunny with the following options.

Video: Output: OpenGL for Embedded Systems 2 video output

Input / Codecs: Hardware-accelerated decoding: VA-API video ...

I run a bunch of updates for mintppc, with the consequence that VLC 3.0.21 was not able to use "OpenGL video output" for MP4 videos anymore... (just a black screen, only sound was normal) Any idea how to fix this? I already tried to downgrade va-mesa drivers (25.x -> 24.x) but it did not ...

6.18-rc6 working ok here (tested with Adelie and MintPPC).
