I downloaded the OS4 update from the files area and copied it to my original installation dir. Immediately after double-clicking the program icon it comes back with an ISI error in the Heretic II task.

I've noticed this problem for some time now, especially with ADRipper.

Two more things to try.

- Replug the DVD's cables (especially data cable) on both the drive and the main board
- Check the driver version, I'm using

If the install CD shows up the driver seems to work.
Maybe you were just unlucky to grab some media that has nothing to show on AmigaOS?

I recently got my X1000 running again after one of the memory modules gave out. Previously when I inserted a CD or DVD it would appear on the Workbench, but now I get nothing at all except that the install disc will show up. Anyone have a clue as to what is going on or some suggestions I might try ...

Is anyone still using Linux on the XE? I'm trying to install from my original disks I got with it, but it's now hanging when trying to load the RAMDisk.

Niels, I found your precise instructions in the mail-list archive and by following them exactly was able to set up my stable, backup and beta partitions and choose the one I want to boot into. Now the only thing I'm missing is the Linux partition.
