At least I read the AmigaOS 4.1 (Update 2) Installation manual, in which it is indeed advised to use the 'Custom File System' and 'DosType', if the SFS/0 is not directly listed (Page 25, Adding Work Partitions).
This expected you to enter SFS manually if not present. Here it defaults to DOS/3 so you must have edited incorectly. UNless a much older media toolbox had adifferent default. In the most recent as SmartFileSystem is in kickstart it's already present in the list of avalable filesystems.

Nah, there are few people that you will better advice from than Thomas, across the whole AmigaOS 3.x to 4.x spectrum, so take it on the chin with a pinch of salt amd move on
