Classic/68K Development tooling baseline

Post by NinjaCyborg »

Hi

Can someone let me know what's the baseline tooling recommended for OS3/68k development these days? Is there a better c library these days e.g. is clib2 or newlib available for OS3? Or is everyone still just using the out of the box SAS/C stuff and the NDK3.9?

What about for POSIX compatibility? Is ixemul still in use and still the best way to do cross porting?

I think most people here are more into NG Amigas and OS4.x.

It might be more fruitful to ask this over on Amiga.org where the people involved in the OS3.x stuff seem to be active.

Sadly no one there answering either, asked a similar question. Was hoping this board might be where the serious people hang out.

Judging by the activity on this board there aren't many. Where is the best place to hang out to make sure one has the latest known-good tooling anyway? The downloadable SDK is several years old now, surely things have moved on a bit?

@NinjaCyborg

Sorry that we're unable to point you to a place where the forums are buzzing with 68K development activity, but you're really asking in a wrong place. It's like visiting a French restaurant and asking the waiter where's the best place to eat fish-and-chips.

If amiga.org (IMHO the number-one hangout for 68K-interested people) didn't help then I really don't want what to recommend, sorry.

EAB might be a good place to ask.

Most there are on emulators nowadays, but the "buzzing" is at least louder

Sorry for the late reply.

I use the bebbo's fork of the cross development toolchain by cahirwpz which is a complete up to date toolchain that comes with the NDK and compiles with gcc6 (also contains clib2 linkers):
