I updated my X1000 with the new HD Audio Drive via AmiUpdate which requested a reboot.
I rebooted the system and the system hung at the Amiga OS. 4.1 screen with the Boing Ball.
I think this is the screen where the boot sound normally plays? (I have previously disabled it.)
I tried re-booting several times and could not get past the boing ball screen.
I had to bood via my emergency boot CD and rename the "hdaudio.audio" file to get my system
to boot again. Anyone else run into this issue?

i just checked and it worked all fine here.
after updating the modes are there but of course not "used". i need to define it in ahi prefs to make them play any sound.
and the x1000 booted very well with it?!

Do you have Mixer enabled in your Startup-sequence? There is a reported incompatibility between Mixer and the new HDAudio driver.I rebooted the system and the system hung at the Amiga OS. 4.1 screen with the Boing Ball.

KTadd:
Also happening at that point is AHI attempting to mount everything it can find drivers for.. each driver is opened and sent out to look for it's matching hardware. Since your BootSound is off, this is far more likely to be the problem.
As Trevor suggested, please remove "mixer" from Sys:Prefs/WBStartup list, if it has been added.
I'd also like to know what other sound card you have installed.
We had one other person who had a problem similar to this, and removing mixer from his startup seemed to clear it up.
[EDIT] It has been pointed out that the user who had a problem removed "mixer" and later removed his SB card completely.
It was not clear which once solved his problem.
Mixer hits the hardware for each sound card directly, and has not yet been updated to include the X1000 HDAudio chip.
zappa: This release does not support S/PDIF, and does not support recording. These will be added to later versions. Since audio
playback is the primary need, it was decided that a playback only release should be done.

Ahh...this is likely the problem. I do have mixer running as part of the startup.trevordick wrote:Do you have Mixer enabled in your Startup-sequence? If it doesn't work with mixer then I won't be using the new driver right now. I use mixer to
control the volume with keyboard keys and I don't want to give that up. I'll wait for future updates.
Nice to see progress though.
Thanks!

@Lyle
No Problem I doubt Output is Fuly Output. For Records I use my Other Soundcard or LinuxPPC.
But many Thanks for the Aktual State
The Sound is very good
Any Plan for the Future with Spdif-In ? cause there 3-Pins on the Mobo for that.

Re: New HD Audio driver hangs system on reboot!!
I'm just sitting here making my sweetie crazy by playing
different songs on different sound systems.
I set AmigaAMP to use ahi unit 3 and that is cranking some
hot Latin tunes to my monitor speakers using HDaudio while
the SBlive is pumping good ole Rock&Roll to my 5.1 system
using AHI Music Unit and Unit 0 and in addition moving the
5.1 sound around with the Mixer controls.
She says she needs an aspirin, and that nothing will help me.
