Hi !
Are there PCI-e (for the x1-slot) Sound and Networkcards buyable for Sam460/X1000 ?
I saw some but dont know the Chip-names of these Cards. (Some Pics are to tiny as i can read the Chipname)

You'll have to wait for un updated kernel in order to use these kinds of cards on the Sam460 boards.

Re: PCIe-Sound and or Networkcards for Sam460 ?
I can say from experience. There is definite communication between the sound card that I have and the PCIe slot so THANK YOU for fixing this!
The bad news is that the lower end Envy24DT cards do not seem to be supported properly by the Envy24HT driver.
This is the sound card that I tried:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6829186003
Before Workbench would not load any programs when this driver was in AHI and the card was in the slot. Now I can configure everything for the card (even settings beyond this card's capabilities since this is the low end of the Envy24xx chips)
The system thinks the card is playing music but nothing is coming out. It looks like the audio programs like Tune Net and Amiga Amp 3 are just going through the motions of playing (bouncing level meters, etc)
Perhaps an adjustment to the driver would allow the driver to recognize this card? It would be a nice little alternative to the internal sound chip. Also, it would provide a way to record incoming audio. The Juli@ card seems pretty expensive but seems to be the only PCIe alternative with an Envy24 family chip.

It may seem expensive but it is a superior card and worth it.graffias79 wrote:The Juli@ card seems pretty expensive but seems to be the only PCIe alternative with an Envy24 family chip.

does that mean that the pcie @juli works ??
im still thinking of buying it for sure if it works.
Re: PCIe-Sound and or Networkcards for Sam460 ?
I get yesterday an Kernel-update.
Would you say I/O with PCIe is go to a Funktional State ?
Any Soundcards other than the @Juli work with PCIe ?

Re: PCIe-Sound and or Networkcards for Sam460 ?
The Juli@ is a nice card, I have one in my X1000 and one in my Sam460ex. They give great playback sound. (They are probably less suited for recording, as they don't have any input gain regulation.)
BUT: Mine are both PCI, not PCIe. I don't know if a PCIe version would work, I haven't tried it.
The recent kernel update was meant to make PCIe cards visible to the system in a Sam460ex (AmigaOne 500). But whether that means that some specific PCIe card "just works" now, remains to be seen. All we know is they didn't work before the kernel update.
Best regards,
Niels

My friend and I are thinking of getting a PCIe Julia@ card to try. Yes that's a little crazy but we really really really want good working audio on our AmigaOne 500s. Amiga specific hardware has never been cheap right?
