Hi Ace,

Many thanks for testing all RC1 kernels on your X5000! :-)

I am looking forward to your test with the xorg.conf. Maybe you can switch with CTRL-ALT-F1 (F2, F3, F4 etc) to another terminal after booting with the xorg.conf and get the Xorg log file.

Cheers,
Christian

Hi Allan,

Many thanks for testing the RC1 kernels. :-)

Could you please test the following xorg.conf with the default uImage-5.3 from the RC1 package?

Code: Select all
Section "Device"
            Identifier "ATI RV620 [FirePro 2260]"
            Driver      "radeon"
            BusID   "PCI:5@4096:0:0"
    EndSection

Please try to switch with CTRL-ALT-F1 (F2, F3, F4 etc) to another terminal after booting with this xorg.conf. Maybe you can get a Xorg log file.

Thanks,
Christian

Fantastic! :-)

If I understand you correctly then the Logitech mouse doesn't work with this xorg.conf. Does it work without the xorg.conf?

Correct Logitech mouse does not work booting with no xorg.conf either. Just retested to be sure.

But you posted that it worked two days ago.

Apologies as I haven't had much time of late but finally got round to some testing of RC1.

RC1 Boots to Radeon SI card but will not run LightDM. I can however get to terminals using the F keys. I haven't tried using the xorg.conf as yet will do this weekend. Logitech mouse works fine.

RC1-vgaard Boots to Firepro and LightDM as normal, Logitech mouse works fine.

RC1-ll Boots to Firepro and LightDM, Logitech mouse works fine.

I appreciate all the hard work you put in for us all.

Regards

OK this started to bug me so I did all tests again several times. It seems that the Logitech mouse issue is inconsistent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. i ran a number of cold reboots using the combinations on the attached spread sheet. I used kernel 5.2 as a baseline, where the Logitech mouse worked consistently. I ran using no Xorg, my original Xorg and the RV620 Xorg you asked me to use. Chart shows to which card it booted and whether the Logitech mouse worked.

Kernel No Xorg/Logitech Mouse Original Xorg/Logitech Mouse RV620 Xorg/Logitech Mouse

5.3 SI / No SI / No RV620 / Sometimes

5.3-vga RV620 / No SI / No RV620 No

5.3-ll RV620 / No SI / No RV620 / Sometimes

5.2 RV620 / Yes SI / Yes RV620 / Yes

Cheers
Allan

Hi Allan,

Maybe we need a new bug report because of your Logitech wireless USB mouse.

Link to the old bug report: Logitech Wireless Receiver 046d:c52f : mouse not working

Could you please test the alpha1 with your Logitech wireless USB mouse?

Additionally please post the output of glxinfo | grep -i opengl with the RC1 (uImage-5.3) and the xorg.conf for the RV620.

Thanks,
Christian
