sure I can buy a usb stick everywhere but a live CD could also be an option...
Even beta testers are registered users of OS4 (and have paid to be so). Did you get the registration transferred to you when you bought the system? You should have. Then you can download an ISO of the installation disk which you are registered for, at Hyperions home page under Downloads->AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition; the filename is AmigaOneX5000InstallCD-53.25.iso.lha. If you haven't registered before, you may need to first create a login and register for the product with the registration number you got.

BTW, this is in fact off-topic here, this group deals with running Linux on X5000.

Best regards,

Niels

Been really impressed with Fienix so a big well done to everyone involved in this and for the updates.
My X5000 is getting quite a lot of use across all three OS options.

Hi All,

Please note: Hardware 3D acceleration doesn't work with the Radeon HD7xxx series and above (Radeon SI). You need a Radeon HD6xxx series or below.

If you have a Radeon HD7xxx or above (Radeon SI) installed in your X1000 and X5000, then please prevent the libglamor module from loading. It is loaded if a Radeon HD7xxx or above card is detected and causes xorg to crash.

Code: Select all
sudo mv /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglamoregl.so /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglamoregl.so.bak

@Casey
Could you please rename the libglamoregl.so to libglamoregl.so.bak in your next img?

Thanks,
Christian

Thanks for the information. I'll make the change.

Apparently this is a false memory: I remember being delighted that I could play audio on my bluetooth speaker from Fienix in my early experiments with the platform. But now I don't even have a bluetooth icon in my Fienix panel. (I do usually have the icon in my Ubuntu panel, but I can't connect with anything from Ubuntu.)

I notice that Christian's Fienix screenshots since December 10th show the bluetooth icon in the panel.

If I launch VLC and go to Playback > Renderer, it shows "Dining Room speaker." "Dining Room speaker" is the name of a Google Home speaker (not bluetooth) I have in my dining room, but I can't imagine how VLC knows about it. In any event, it can't play to it.

System Information, USB Devices, shows "Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)."

Control Center ignores a click on Bluetooth Adapters. Bluetooth Manager tells me "Connection to BlueZ failed. Bluez daemon is not running, blueman-manager cannot continue. This probably means that there were no Bluetooth adapters detected or Bluetooth daemon was not started." System Information apparently detects a dongle. Can I assume my problem is with the daemon?

I was hoping the following would start the daemon, but it didn't seem to:
Code: Select all
root@Fienix:/home/fienix# sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth start
[ ok ] Starting bluetooth (via systemctl): bluetooth.service.
root@Fienix:/home/fienix#

Have you updated the kernel modules after you installed a new kernel?

VLC supports Chromecast, so if your Google speaker and X5000 are connected to the same network it makes sense that VLC on the X5000 shows the Google Home.
