Kilaueabart,

Please look in the following thread: Solution for long Linux boots because of systemd services

These packages have all been added to the Fienix repo. I'll update the customization layer so that they will install for everyone via "apt-get upgrade" or synaptic update and also add them to a new boot image hopefully this weekend.
Thanks again!

I seem to be completely misunderstanding what is going on here. Assuming this applied to my Fienix on AmigaOne X5000, I started with "apt-get upgrade" and apparently got upgrades for arcticfox and spiderweb, but nothing else.

Tried reloading synaptic and looking there. No sign of firmware-ralink or gir1.2-nm-1.0 in the list.

The Latest Version of libnm0 and network-manager listed are both 1.20.2-1, and pulseaudio-module-bluetooth only goes up to 12.99.2-1.

I do have a version of network-manager-gnome, and libspc1-1.4.1. Blueman 2.0.8-1 would be upgradeable to 2.1.1.1 except for some "unresolvable dependencies."

Maybe my computer days are about over if I can't figure this out.

It's probably my fault. I may have forgotten to "export" the packages after they were added, that means they won't show up even though they're in there. I'll check when I get home tonight. Thanks for letting me know.

This should be fixed now. Updating "fienix-customization-layer" will install these packages, except for "firmware-ralink". However, "firmware-ralink" is part of "firmware-misc-nonfree". That is why if you search Synaptic for "firmware-ralink", "firmware-misc-nonfree" will show.

So, please update "fienix-customization-layer" and also install "firmware-misc-nonfree".

Thanks!

Fienix UPDATES
Please test and let me know if you run into any issues. I'm calling this the "pre-release" of Fienix 2.0, codename "soar".

Package Updates
*MATE to 1.22.2
*Mesa graphics library to 19.3.2
*PulseAudio sound server to 13.0
*SDL libraries to 2.0.10
*Updates to various MATE applications (Caja, EOM, etc.)
*Evolution email to 3.34.1
*LibreOffice to 6.4.0
*Rawtherapee digital photo developer to 5.7
*Flowblade nonlinear video editor to 2.4
*Mopidy music client to 3.0.1
*smplayer media player to 19.10
*Many other updated packages

New Software
*Blueman bluetooth manager
*Redshift automatic screen color adjuster
*Maxima algebra system
*Regina mathematical software
*OpenVPN VPN
*OpenConnect VPN
*LAMP Stack (Apache2, MySQL 5.7, and PHP 7.3)

Repository Update
Fienix is now using a new software repository. When I made the old repository, it was really just a place to store add-on packages, and it didn't scale very well when I decided to create a whole new distro. The new repository should help me keep it organized and updated much easier. When you upgrade "fienix-customization-layer" your sources.list will automatically update to the new repositories, you do not need to do anything else.

Repository Addresses (for reference - your sources.list will update automatically)
deb http://fienix.servehttp.com/repos/fienix/soar/ soar-di main
deb http://fienix.servehttp.com/repos/fienix/soar/ soar-dh main
deb http://fienix.servehttp.com/repos/fienix/soar/ soar-cp main

I do not have the "fienix-customization-layer" installed at all. When I tried to install it, it was refused and I got a warning about dependency problems:

fienix-customization-layer:
Depends: gir1.2-nma-1.0 but it is not installable
Depends: blueman but it is not going to be installed

BTW, does installing it change the desktop automatically...? What if I would like to keep the old 'minimal' style dekstop? Should I then add those rep addresses manually? What about the old ones (http://ppcutopia.ddns.net/repos/apt/debian/, http://ppcutopia.ddns.net/repos/apt/debian/), should they be removed?

Me too!

Code: Select all

root@Fienix:/home/fienix# apt-get upgrade fienix-customization-layer
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  caja-image-converter fienix-config-optimizations fienix-customization-layer
  imagemagick imagemagick-6.q16 xserver-xorg-video-all
The following packages have been kept back:
  blueman libgegl-0.3-0 libsane-common sane-utils
That seems to say fienix-customization-layer, caja-image-converter, xserver-xorg-video-all and fienix-config-optimizations were installed, but Synaptic lists fienix-customization-layer 2.5.2-fienix as uninstalled and uninstallable.

Code: Select all

Depends: fienix-config-optimizations but it is not going to be installed
Depends: xserver-xorg-video-all but it is not going to be installed
Depends: caja-image-converter but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gir1.2-nma-1.0 but it is not installable
I went ahead and installed the first three (again?), but gir1.2-nma-1.0 remains uninstallable. I didn't get the warning about blueman that Roland reports, but it remains uninstallable as well.

The missing packages should be available now. I added them to the new repositories and forgot to add them to the old

fienix-customization-layer does install a panel configuration. If you have your current configuration saved you should be able to switch back to it, but there appears to be a bug with MATE Tweak (documented in Ubuntu-MATE as well) relating to saving panel configurations right now, so if you don't want to risk having to set your panels up again then yes, just change the repository addresses manually. Delete the old ones.

Thanks for your help with troubleshooting these issues, I really appreciate it!
