Sorry if I have caused some confusion. My Firepro does indeed work alone with the latest alphas (using A5 in posting this) with and without fixes. My initial attempts didn't boot as I did not physically remove my SI card and place the Firepro in the 16 x PCIE slot (ie I tried to boot with it still in a 1 x PCIE slot). Sorry for the confusion. I currently have the Firepro in the 16x slot, it boots fine and runs with compiz no problems. Another issue I found earlier when nothing would boot is a sata connector came loose when I was fiddling inside the box! Not helpful.

Thanks for the info! :-) That means, the Firepro works without any problems. Could you please fill a bug report at bugs.freedesktop.org? You can report all the things which you figured out. I will release test kernels without DRM patches as long as possible for you. :-)

FYI:
Christoph Hellwig wrote: Hi Christian,

happy new year and I hope you had a few restful deays off.

I've pushed a new tree to:

git://git.infradead.org/users/hch/misc.git powerpc-dma.6

Gitweb:

http://git.infradead.org/users/hch/misc ... erpc-dma.6

Which has been rebased to the latests Linus tree, which has a lot of
changes, and has also changed the patch split a bit to aid bisection.

I think

http://git.infradead.org/users/hch/misc ... 715cf2362f

might be a good commit to re-start testing, then bisecting up to the
last commit using git bisect.

Next step: c446404b041130fbd9d1772d184f24715cf2362f (powerpc/dma: remove dma_nommu_mmap_coherent)

Code: Select all

git clone git://git.infradead.org/users/hch/misc.git -b powerpc-dma.6 a

Code: Select all

git checkout c446404b041130fbd9d1772d184f24715cf2362f
Output:

Code: Select all

Note: checking out 'c446404b041130fbd9d1772d184f24715cf2362f'.

You are in 'detached HEAD' state. You can look around, make experimental
changes and commit them, and you can discard any commits you make in this
state without impacting any branches by performing another checkout.

If you want to create a new branch to retain commits you create, you may
do so (now or later) by using -b with the checkout command again. Example:

  git checkout -b <new-branch-name>

HEAD is now at c446404... powerpc/dma: remove dma_nommu_mmap_coherent
Link to the Git: powerpc-dma.6

Result: PASEMI onboard ethernet works and the X5000 (P5020 board) boots. You can download these kernels if you want to test them.

Download: vmlinux-4.21-alpha6-AmigaOne_X1000_X5000.tar.gz

BTW, there is a new smaller Cyrus patch in this package. :-)

Hi Skatemann,

Do you always install the kernel modules? Sorry, I didn't add the kernel modules directories to the alpha6 package. That means the kernel modules 'usbnet.ko' and 'asix.ko' aren't available for the alpha6.

Code: Select all

CONFIG_USB_USBNET=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_AX8817X=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_AX88179_178A=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_CDCETHER=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_CDC_EEM=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_CDC_NCM=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_HUAWEI_CDC_NCM=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_CDC_MBIM=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_DM9601=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_SR9700=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_SR9800=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_SMSC75XX=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_SMSC95XX=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_GL620A=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_NET1080=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_PLUSB=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_MCS7830=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_RNDIS_HOST=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_CDC_SUBSET_ENABLE=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_CDC_SUBSET=m
CONFIG_USB_NET_AX8817X=m: ASIX AX88xxx Based USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapters

I will add the kernel modules directory again for the alpha7. Thank you for testing! :-)

Cheers,
Christian

I am compiling the alpha7 without the latest DRM updates for the ATI FireMV 2250 and ATI FirePro 2260 from the latest Git kernel. I had to remove the following DRM updates before:

Code: Select all

git revert 0fe4e2d5cd931ad2ff99d61cfdd5c6dc0c3ec60b -m 1

Code: Select all

git revert 7e59fad9c9d1aeacdc96dfffd35f9e12ddc34dbf -m 1

Code: Select all

git revert 4971f090aa7f6ce5daa094ce4334f6618f93a7eb -m 1
@Ace
Please also test the default alpha7 uImage because there are some new DRM updates included.

Yeah, normally i place the modules in \lib\modules, but like you mentioned, there were non in the download :-) No problem at all. I will give Alpha 7 a try.
Thanks again for your effort! I will keep testing.

Hi All,

Here is the alpha7 of kernel 4.21 for testing.

New:
It also includes:
  • X5000: Additional uImage without the DRM updates for the ATI FireMV 2250 and ATI FirePro 2260 (Please also test the default alpha7 uImage because there are some new DRM updates included)
Download: vmlinux-4.21-alpha7-AmigaOne_X1000_X5000.tar.gz

Image

Please test all kernels.

Thanks,
Christian
