Hi All,

I successfully tested the RC7 in a virtual QEMU machine today.

Hi Christian,
Do you know what instructions to run Fienix on QEMU should be shared with this user?

You can boot your img with QEMU directly.

Command:

Code: Select all

qemu-system-ppc64 -M ppce500 -cpu e5500 -m 2048 -kernel /home/christian/Downloads/linux-image-5.0-rc7-X1000_X5000/X5000_and_QEMU_e5500/uImage-5.0 -drive format=raw,file=/home/christian/Downloads/Fienix-Beta120418.img,index=0,if=virtio -nic user,model=e1000 -append "rw root=/dev/vda" -device virtio-vga -device virtio-mouse-pci -device virtio-keyboard-pci -device qemu-xhci,id=newusb -device usb-audio,bus=newusb.0 -smp 4
You can try some others USB controllers if the virtual USB sound card doesn’t work.

USB recommendations for qemu

I use the X5000 Linux kernel for booting Fienix in a virtual QEMU machine because our X5000 kernel supports the virtual e5500 QEMU machine too.

Have you already reported the issue on the bug site yet?

Sure did a while back and sent all of my output reports.

Hi Ace,

Any news because of the bug report? Could you please post the link to this bug report?

If you need a new kernel with support for your X5000 with two graphics cards then I could compile the latest stable 4.20 kernel for you.

Christian

Sorry have been busy with a myriad of other things lately. Bugzilla – Bug 109345. I posted my logs there as requested but have heard nothing back. No need to compile a special kernel for me, I will test rc7 this weekend. One thing I have been doing is getting my SAM460ex up and running again, amazing what you forget-:(

I also did a clean install of Fienix, upgarded but have a few issues which I have asked Casey about, just not sure what was happening.

Anyway will let you know how I go with RC7

Thanks a lot! But the issue still exists with your Firepro 2260. Did you test it with only the Firepro 2260? (Without the 7750)
