You can boot your img with QEMU directly.

You can try some others USB controllers if the virtual USB sound card doesn’t work.
USB recommendations for qemu
I use the X5000 Linux kernel for booting Fienix in a virtual QEMU machine because our X5000 kernel supports the virtual e5500 QEMU machine too.
