SUCCESS!

The X5000 booted Alpha 11 with working USB peripherals (mouse keyboard) using the mem=3500M Bootargs switch.

Would be great if it worked with my 16GB of ram as well!

Fantastic! :-) Could you please try mem=8000M?

Thanks

Hi All,

I compiled the alpha12 of kernel 4.19 for the X5000, X1000, and for virtual e5500 QEMU machines today.

New:
Download: vmlinux-4.19-alpha12-AmigaOne_X1000_X5000.tar.gz

Please test it.

Thanks,
Christian

Alpha 12 up and running on my X5000, but only when using the bootargs mem=3500M switch.

With the mem=8000M switch or without the use of the mem switch (so adressing my 16GB) the USB errors remain.

So after Alpha 9 things broke..

Hi Skateman,

Thank you for testing the alpha12. I posted the results to the Linuxppc-dev mailing list yesterday.

And here it is, RC1 running on my X5000 with the mem=3500M switch enabled.

And here RC1 running with the mem=4096M switch enabled.

All values above mem=4096M fail !

I thought it was about time I rejoined "All," and got the RC1 to test. Had a number of problems trying it. Not surprising that "setenv bootarts ..." didn't work, but although bootargs in my regular ubuntu 16.04 script sets root=/dev/sdc5 (that is the 5th partition of my X5000 disk, in this case), I have to go back to /dev/sda5 if I fatload uImage-4.19 (I renamed the file).

I didn't add "mem=3500M" as an experiment, expecting that my mouse and keyboard would not work, but they worked fine.

I booted Firefox to report, but once it was up, it failed to make any connections. I eventually got notice that I was out of space.

Back to ubuntu with 4.18. Firefox works, but I again got an out of space message. Brought up a Disk Analyzer which seems to say I have 81GiB left to work with. GParted disagrees: /dev/sdc5 has only 2.86 GiB left of a starting 52.41. I'm totally puzzled. Maybe the 81.3GiB includes USB drives?

I tried to follow the suggestion to empty my Trash, but it refuses to empty!

Hi Kilaueabart,

Please increase the size of the partition with GParted from an other Linux system.

@All
Great news! :-)

We got an answer because of our USB problems on the Linuxppc-dev mailing list today.
