Hi All,

I tried to upgrade my Fedora 26 Server PPC64 to version 28 today with the following commands:

Code: Select all

dnf upgrade --refresh
After that I rebooted my AmigaOne.

Code: Select all

dnf install dnf-plugin-system-upgrade

Code: Select all

dnf system-upgrade download --releasever=27 ‐‐allowerasing

Code: Select all

dnf system-upgrade reboot
Output after the reboot:

Code: Select all

Starting system upgrade. This will take a while.
Fedora 27 Server PPC64 boots without any problems. Next step upgrading to Fedora 28 Server PPC64:

Code: Select all

dnf upgrade --refresh
After that I rebooted my AmigaOne.

Code: Select all

dnf system-upgrade download --releasever=28
Output:

Code: Select all

Fedora 28 - ppc64 - Updates 100% [===================================================] 1.5 MB/s | 4.2 MB 00:02
Fedora 28 - ppc64 [===================================================] 1.5 MB/s | 28 MB 00:34
Last medadata expiration check: ...........
Total download size: 1.5 G
DNF will only download packages, install gpg keys, and check the transaction.

Code: Select all

dnf system-upgrade reboot
Output after the reboot:

Code: Select all

Starting system upgrade. This will take a while.
Unfortunately it doesn't boot. :-(

Fedora 27 Server PPC64 boots without any problems but unfortunately Fedora 28 Server PPC64 doesn't boot. It seems there is a systemd problem. You can upgrade to Fedora 27 but I don't recommend you to upgrade to Fedora 28 currently.

Cheers,
Christian

Are there any installation instructions.

I downloaded the ISO.. DDed it to a blank SSD..

Detached my working Ubuntu installation SSD and attached the Fedora SSD

Booted up like i boot ubuntu.. but failed... my guess is that my Bootargs point to the wrong partiton...

If there are any instructions, please let me know.. otherwise.... its tinkering again ...

:-)

Have you tried to start Xorg with ’startx’ after the login yet?

Have you tried this recipe:

http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz ... 864#p43302

It worked at least for Fedora 26. Have not yet tried Fedora 27 as I'm away from my machine for a while.

It is also wise to create a new user account with full privilges (or modify the defalt one by joining all the 'groups'). Without that, some system tools are not available unless you login as 'root'.

Has anyone tested whether the default mediaplayer of Fedora 27 is working with videos (MP4 etc.)? In 26 I was not able to get it to work, because of missing codecs.
