Might psensor be included in the SAM460 live CD, or do I have to do a full install?

If you boot the live cd and start a terminal you may be able to get the info by using the command sensors.
the output is like this

$ sensors
radeon-pci-18100
Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1: +46.0°C (crit = +0.0°C, hyst = +0.0°C)

You would have to do a full install of Linux to install the psensor program. The psensor programs is not installed by default so would not be on the live cd .
Note the current versions use a newer net install iso. The Live CD is outdated.
Read the notes for installation here to see what is required .

If you want to try installing I suggest Lubuntu 14.04LTS for your first installation . Install iso download link below .

PS: Thanks for the Idea of riser cables.

Thank you for the information on the LiveCD and the link for Lubuntu. You are welcome for the riser card idea. I have used the ARC1-152-C7 riser card for a few years now with no problems. Since I am now using the HR-03 GT wrap around heatsink on the 4850, I have freed up the PCI slot. If I get a newer graphics card at some point, and most newer cards are dual slot, I may put that riser card to use once again.

Debian Jessie - Mate .
This seems to be giving the best Linux 2D performance for me on a Sam460ex.
