OS4 could benefit with some form of scanner API (preferably something standard like TWAIN) so applications can query for a scanner, list known scanners and initiate scan/previews.
Obviously some scanner drivers in DEVS:Scanners would be useful too!

AmigaOS 4.x could benefit from a lot of different software types, but the bare fact is that resources are scarce right now. Unless you know someone that might want to take on such a task, it's unlikely to happen anytime soon.
That doesn't mean never, obviously, just that the current focus is elsewhere.
