Not wanting to cause any err false drama but I've been playing around with this Live DVD tonight
Now two things I noticed. 3 times I have done cold reboots and 3 times the monitor goes black and the machine resets back into AmigaOS etc
each time my session lasts about 20-30 mins, all I've been doing is browsing with firefox, I also noticed that I couldn't get any movies to play
in youtube at all (not that I actually care LOL) or on other sites, no smooth playback
Now I recall when I used the DVD when it initially arrived my 4890 in it at the time played any movie I threw at it easily, it was a little weird that double
clicking on a youtube movie on the right handside didn't make it play in the window in place of the old movie?
Here's the thing, the 6870 that I have now, which arrived from the states a week or so okay performs just fine on the AmigaOS side, it plays everything just
fine and I even put it through it's paces with gfxbench, which I will attach at the end of this post
Is it possible that my card is a oddity? am I missing something? LIke said, I think it's nothing to worry about, it's just one of those things? I don't think Linux is
placing too much strain on the card since the fans sound just a happy speed... also, doesn't matter whether I use the ethernet card or the GB plugged into the
GB port of my router, exactly same
I just remembered I played a few movies from a USB HD and a USB Stick and they played just fine, sound in sync as well, I guess it's a streaming problem?
But why would the 4890 cruise along where the 6870 can't do alot - is there some switch I need to flick? Is OS Installation a factor?
I'm willing to beat it's just an incompatiability with this card? It's a sapphire 6870 that I brought specifically for this DVD
Does the log of performance show anything to indicate somethings wrong?
And do I really need to serial the crash? If so, how do I turn on debug on the Linux side to capture on the other X1000 through term

I'm also using a HD6870 card. I presume all your tests are from the Live DVD, not a HDD installation?
I suppose it's possible it could be a kernel issue with your gfx card? When you install to a HDD you can download the latest Linux stable Linux kernel from the A-EON website.
You should be able to play any YouTube video with Minitube (which is included). Also Firefox should play Youtube videos as well, but you may need VLC enabled.
was going to install on a 60gb SSD but
couldnt find another sata cable and didnt
want to borrow one from other computer
will look at installing it at some point and
see how we go, will look at activating or
enabling these options
thanks Trevor

I thought that sounded really useful, so I went for it. But it comes out in Chinese here! I haven't done anything with Chinese for 50 years, and I bet a lot of the vocabulary is much newer than that.

Bart,
Very strange. Just clicked on it and my version is in English?

I simply made a copy of the Live Remix DVD with an "externally" accessible folder with the stable and experimental kernels. and included a PDF with the included 1 page instruction sheet combined with the Installation PDF instructions and burned it to a fresh disc. This way I have everything at hand readable from a PC, MAC, or OS4 system if I lose the original(s).
As an aside, I replaced the SATA DVD-RW with a Blu-Ray Rewriter that allows me to burn 25GB per disc of backups (and such) from Ubuntu and read them in OS4.
I've got another problem. I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 in german and installed everything in german. I also have in Ubuntu itself all set to german but all menus are in english
