"At long last there is a simple and easy way to try out Linux on your Next-Generation AmigaONE X1000 without resorting to entering long lines of unintelligible code. You can run Ubuntu Remix in Live mode straight from the DVD, or if you wish, can install it to your hard disk drive alongside your AmigaOS 4 installation with the simple step-by-step installation guide. The Live Ubuntu Remix DVD is the culmination of many months of work by the A-EON Technology Linux Support Team, a small, dedicated group of international AmigaONE X1000 beta testers and owners from the UK, Eire, Germany, Australia & New Zealand. Not only is Ubuntu now easy to setup and use on the AmigaONE X1000, the custom Linux Kernel includes full 3D hardware support for series 4xxx, 5xxx and 6xxx RadeonHD graphics cards. Also included on the DVD are the necessary development tools to enable you to compile your own kernel. Five unique A1-X1000 Linux Desktop backgrounds have been especially created for Ubuntu Remix DVD along with SuperTuxKart 0.8 AltiVec™, a free 3D kart racing game which has been customised for the AmigaONE X1000."

I believe the plan is to sell it via the AmiStore (when ready).

Yes a digital download, will be available on AMIStore when it is up and running but please note this will be a 4GB iso image. The DVD can be ordered from AmigaKit and other participating Amiga dealers.

By external HD do yo mean an external USB HDD? If so, yes you can install to an external HDD but it does complicate matters a little. The only real issue is the the drive needs to be connected after the machine has powered up. See the Linux installation manual for more information.

I have Debian Wheezy, MintPPC on external USB HDD. I also have both on USB Flash Drives.

The best and recommended method is to have the Linux kernel installed on a CF card in connected to the on-board CF socket.

For sure it is because you tell it where to go in your settings

I done exactly this when I first installed Linux and on a .5TB myself right at the start when all the preliminary Linux testing was going on, unfortunately the harddrive died (at the time i'd recently brought 4 x HD drives 2nd hand from a raid set up) and I never tried another of the drives and never ran Linux again, now that is way more mature and there is a great distro, it might be worth while getting back into it, for testing purposes of course :ugeek:

How do you access the pdf install documention on the DVD without having to boot into Linux from the DVD.
Searching the DVD for ".PDF" yields no results so I'm assuming its unpacked to virtual drive when booting from DVD.
It means that with out a means to print it out from linux you need to write down the CFE set up instructions from the manual.
