I had given up on a sound card but decided to try the SB Live one more time before relegating it to the back of the storage closet. I didn't try the middle PCI slot before because it is so close to the Radeon board which is the warmest running thing in my SAM. I just assumed that all the free PCI slots work the same but that's either not the case or I have a bad bottom PCI slot. The sound from the SB Live card is so much cleaner with crisper sound that I don't want to go back to the builtin sound. If not for this topic I might not have tried again. Thanks!
